New year, new league. The 2021 LCS preseason has just started with the inaugural Lock In tournament, which has already brought us glimpses of exciting new talent. In an exclusive STACKED interview, we spoke to LCS commentator Barento “Razleplasm” Mohammed about the state of the league and all the changes brought about this year.

What's your overall perspective about the new LCS format? What do you expect to be the differentiating factor of NA compared to [other] regions?

<p> For the broadcast, [we] have new talent including myself, Emily, Primal, Hai, Spawn and Allorim. [On the] competitive [side], there's a new wave of talent coming in to create a name for themselves with the retirement of Doublelift and Bjerg. I'm personally proud of the NA midlane talent rising up with Soligo, Insanity, Palafox, Damonte, Pobelter and AblazeOlive who I worked with on Golden Guardians. Fresh faces mean more discovery.</p> <p> Players like Soligo and Damonte have already shown they have what it takes to compete against the best and, from here, everything is growth. And we definitely want to see more about Pobelter, the young promise.

With a couple of Lock In days already played, what’s your hypothetical top 4? Also, considering all the new talents and imports, can you give me your top 3 LLA/OCE imports and top 3 rookies?

<p>My top 4 teams would be Team Liquid, Cloud9, 100Thieves and TSM. About the new imports, I think Josedodo, Newbie and Raes [stand out]. And the rookies I would say Revenge, Fudge and AblazeOlive.</p> <p>This year will have a ton of new faces and new talents trying to prove themselves and, maybe, become the next Doublelift or Bjerg. We talked with Jensen a couple days ago, and he told us about how he’s finally seeing new players with some mistakes but a lot of potential.

<strong>Speaking of potential, we asked Raz what he does to keep improving as a caster and who his inspirations are. If you’re interested in becoming a caster someday, you should definitely consider his words.</strong>

<p>I ask myself what does an ideal 'Raz' look like, document how I get there through several written goals and learn from some of the greats in League and in sports. I studied Obama and Bomani's speech, Stephen A and Max Kellerman's ability to structure their points and few others within the scene's delivery, like Jatt and Papasmithy. There's always something you can learn, so perspective is important.</p>
